Outfit Post: Saturday Night

Dress: ModCloth

I was feeling bored Saturday night while waiting for my friends to be ready and thought I'd fidget with my new photo-editing software, Analog. It has got some crazy cool features - anywhere from instant photo looks, to imperfect film, to classy black and white. It also has cool frames to put spice up your photo, sort of like the iPhone application Instagram does with it's funky polaroid borders. Check it out - under $10 in the Mac App Store! :)

Outfit Post: Lazy Library

Sweater: H&M, Shirt: thrifted, Pants: Forever21, Shoes: Payless
Spring is almost heeeeeeere! I think I jinxed myself by expecting more dreary winter for so long. Or Mother Nature just got sick of me complaining about the damn weather. I may have yelled to the sky a few times. That said, today was sunny and wonderful! Though, I will admit, I got a little over-enthusiastic and really should have considered throwing some mittens and a scarf into the mix. It isn't THAT warm yet. Today is not a very exciting post fashion-wise (I had a lazy day studying at the library) but I was so excited to share this sunshine day with you. Happy almost-Spring!

Recipe: Chocolate Dips!

I needed a pick-me-up today. A BIG pick-me-up. And what better way is there to cheer oneself up than with chocolate? I don't think there is one. Perhaps a puppy. Anyhow, this is a pretty self-explanatory recipe, but I thought I'd post it in case there is someone out there who has yet to actually make chocolate-dipped fruit themself. And you haven't lived until you have!

Step 1: Find fruits and chocolate. Preferably ripe fruit and preferably chocolate chips/bars of chocolate.
Step 2: Make a double-broiler: Heat water on low and place a bowl on top to gently heat the chocolate, keep stirring so it doesn't burn! Add a small dash of cream if your chocolate is too thick.
Step 3: Dip things in chocolate.
Step 4: Place in refrigerator for 20-ish minutes or until brown goo stops dripping off your food.
Step 5: Enjoy one of the simplest/delicious treats known to man.

Happy eating!
:)
I've been doing a lot of purging lately, with regards to, well, everyone I own. Yesterday was the day to empty out the accumulation of books in my end table. Some of them dated all the way back to when I was 7 - talk about memory lane! One of the books I found was this adorable 'girl power' book my mom got me when I was a kiddie. I was surprised to find out that it's filled with inspirational quotes and adorable illustrations that are still relevant to my life today. I'm planning on just putting them on my bulletin to remind me to always smile! Here's a couple to brighten your day as well:

Spring in Canada?

Spring? What's that? I'm not trusting the groundhog just yet when I've been ploughing through snow all day today. But that's alright, I know of a few people who have yet to put their ski hill passes to full use this season. Today will be a relaxing day since I'm feeling a bit under the weather, but first snuck in a delicious breakfast with my bestie @ McDonald's. Seriously, buttermilk biscuits = revolutionary. Anyway, my mom passed down this super cozy denim shirt to me today, and couldn't pass up the opportunity to share this awesome find with the world. Thanks momma!

New Room

I have been craving re-doing my room lately with a couple simple things to spice it up. #1 is finding a better place to display all my cameras, and I'm in LOVE with this photo idea that I saw on Kinsey Mhire's blog. Also in love with these rose string lights from ModCloth, my room could use a little ambiance! Lastly I'm dying to fit a desk into my room to make it a little more functional, like my current dorm room. But I feel I have so many things and not enough space, so I'm trying to find the perfect storage systems. Being an English major means I have acquired more novels for my courses than I've ever read in my lifetime and need the organization.

home sweet home!

So far I've had a busy, yet great, few days back home. I've done more classic Guelph-y things than I realized, which only a true Guelph-ite could recognize.
Friday I treated myself to a delicious latte, and went to see my baby brother win basketball championships. Saturday was even better, went thrifting with my bestie all afternoon, then a reunion with more old friends, girlie drinks and poutine at night.

My amazing thrifted treasure! I have such an obsession for old luggage. It thrills me that I can store stuff in them, but then they end up taking up even more room...

Feb. 16

The Valentine's card  handmade for Justin (looks just like us, I swear) and my bestie's decorations for her man, which were too cute to resist posting.
My single red rose <3 and delicious drink from dinner!
Happy post-post-Valentines day! Hope everyone snagged some awesome 50% off chocolates. My v-day was lovely, as well as the day after. I couldn't rush through class fast enough to hop on my bus home and see my valentine, where he was waiting with a flower and chocolate :) I completely advocate celebrating everyday like it's Valentines Day, but...c'mon! It is Valentine's Day! It also just happened to be my first year celebrating it, and I couldn't have been happier. We spent the next day eating pancakes (procrastinating homework) lounging around (procrastinating homework) and laying in bed watching tv (still procrastinating homework). I only have one more class this afternoon and then I am officially on reading week - time to relax! Happy Thursday.

La Quaintrelle

If ModCloth had a Canadian baby, it would be La Quaintrelle.
Check out a few of their cute things I thought were great Valentines-y date pieces :)

What a weekend!

Montreal Breakfast (Pecan buttercream and candied bacon) Red Velvet, Lemon Drop, Chocolate & Vanilla.

This weekend I stayed with a bestie in Barrie and had a wonderful time :) it was so nice to get away from school but not actually be at home - I get a little stir crazy! We just had a lovely few days of relaxing, movies, and (unfortunately) homework. We ate cupcakes (pictured above) from an amazing place called Sugar City Cupcakes, a cute little shop that made me want to quit my day job and become a professional cupcake taster, no joke. We also did classic girlie things such as pig out on too much chocolate and wine. Now that the weekend has FLOWN by, there's only one more sleep until my reading week begins, aka Valentine's Day. I am SO excited to spend it with my man, eating good food and enjoying each others company. Anyone else have exciting V-Day plans?

Photo Throwback

Happy Friday!
Hope your week was nothing but lovely, and your weekend will be even better ;)
Today is a bit of an unfortunate day for me, as I lost the battery charger to my DSLR! I feel like someone has cut off my arms - what will I do with myself? In light of this, and the yucky Toronto weather, it has got me rummaging through my old iPhoto libraries and came upon this gem from my father's wedding last summer. Taken by my lovely aunt (I told you photography runs in the family) it is one of the few photos where my little brother (yes, LITTLE) is actually pretending to like me! Lol. It also got me craving the summery dresses, tan skin, and hot weather. What else are you looking forward to for summer?!

Love is in the air!

Hope everyone is having a swell February so far! I know I sure am- but mostly because I'm counting down the days until my reading week. I will get one and a half weeks at home, which means no screaming college kids, loud construction, public bathrooms or cafeteria food. Heaven? Yes. I'm also feeling extremely blessed to be spending Valentine's Day with my special someone for the first time :) Hopeless romanticism runs in my family. Here are some pics from the other day, when my lovely man visited and he, my lady Danielle, and I decorated cupcakes baked by some residence staff! Here's to sharing the love

Another Happy B-Day to..

My daddy! One of my best friends, confidants, and all around great guy, finally turned 50 yesterday.

Not one of my best creations, but these brownies sure tasted good :)

My stepmom threw a fantastic surprise party Saturday night, as well as a family dinner Sunday evening. I can never get enough quality time with my family :) It was catered by a fantastic little business in town called Fergie's Fine Foods who made the beautiful cake you see above. I may have gained a solid 50 pounds from it all, but it was definitely worth it. Love you, Dad!

Happy Friday!

I'm so excited for this upcoming weekend. Today consisted of studying and getting my nails done, tomorrow will consist of more studying and celebrating a girlfriend's birthday, and Sunday will be all about my wonderful Daddy's big 50th. And lots and lots of food. A weekend at home well-spent I'd say! Just trying not to think about heading back to reality on Monday...

Wishing a happy birthday to..

My bestest friend Veronica! Though we are miles apart, I want to make sure this lady has a wonderful b-day. Happy 20th love! :)
