Saturday Baking

As another distraction from my exam studying this week, I decided to make a batch of oatmeal chocolate chip cookies with cashew butter! I, of course, use the cashew butter as opposed to peanut (like the recipe called for) because I'm allergic. I got the recipe from the LoonySpoons book by Janet and Greta. I'm always watching their show Eat, Shrink and be Merry! Anyway, these cookies turned out pretty tasty. A little on the dry side, but that's because they're a healthy version and not over-done with butter and oil. If I could make some changes I'd add some vanilla extract (which I put in everything) or a teaspoon of espresso powder which really brings out the chocolate. Yum yum, more for me! :)

Party on, Wayne

Finally Friday! Well, I guess I can't really say that since I don't technically have a "work week" to be celebrating the end of. I've basically just spent my week at home eating muffins. Anyway. I've finally gotten to wear to my booooootiful trench coat from ModCloth that I have been worshipping the beauty of for a few months as it hung in my closet. I'm just hanging out in my living room with some coffee, procrastinating, etc. I'm trying insanely hard not to get sick as my brother has strep (for the second time in a row) and now my boyfriend is also sick. He NEVER gets sick. What is happening?!?! I'm pretty excited for tomorrow night - I'm seeing my girl Jelly's band play downtown Guelph! I can't wait! I haven't seen her in forever (even though she goes to school in Toronto too...) and it'll be fun to let loose at a rock show of course. Happy Friday! And resist urge to sing Rebecca Black all day long.

Instagram Memories

Hey blog world. I have had a great couple of days at home! Last night Justin and I hit of the craft store for some chains and I ended up finding this awesome owl peice! I'm in love. I've also been working super hard on my bedroom to organize, and my closet was first to recieve some love. I've also been installing shelves with my Mom (bless her heart) and they are a real pain in the butt. However, I did get to break out my new fancy-pants trenchcoat this week! [See below] I'm also super pumped because we finally have dates booked off in April to go to Montreal for the weekend! I can't tell you how long I've been wanting to go back. I'm all about the food, culture, art, architecture, etc :) Not so much the partying. Pretty much just an old fart. Now I'm just laying on the couch with my man, who's feeling a little under the weather, and looking forward to a relaxing, eating, and watching a movie. Pfft, what else is new?

Window Shopping: Forever 21

So I seriously cannot stop thinking about these 4 pieces from Forever21 (the Canadian site). #1, #3, and #4 (which is now out-of-stock) are a little reminiscent of the funky 60's stuff like ModCloth has, which I've never seen much of at Forever 21. And #2 is really just feeding my obsession for t-shirt dresses. I'm trying to pick only one to buy (college kid budget!) but I can't decide! I would like them all :( I can hear my mother asking me where I'm going to wear a lime green dress, but I don't care. You can't choose what you fall in love with, right?

I'm eating mini eggs and blogging...

It doesn't get much better than that. Well, we all know that's probably not true but let's pretend because it's all I have. Though I am having a lovely Sunday! I had brunch with a girlfriend at McDonalds (have I swooned about their coffee here yet?) And ran some errands. I picked up this amazing green sunflower skirt you see below for only $20 and I'm in love with it already. I'm also excited because I decided to actually put some effort in to my appearance and went to the salon to get some highlights touched up. YAY for light hair for summer! I'm still trying to decorated my room which is a flippin disaster because I have no means of storage for all the odds and ends I've been bringing home from my dorm. It's a tornado! Lastly, I'm antsy about booking a trip for me and Justin to Montreal. I'd really like to go at the end of April, however I am a planner and he is a "fly by the seat of his pants"-er, so I haven't made much progress in finalizing anything. But it would be funner than the funnest of fun! (that's the chocolate talking, I apologize)

Recipe: Spring Crepes

Good morning! I woke up needing a good pick-me-up today, so I decided to use crepes to do so. What, everyone fills their sad holes with carbs, right? If not, try it. It rocks. Anyway, my house is starting to look quite spring-y. So this is a combo house/breakfast post. I know, I'm quite progressive. So I didn't have many ingredients, my crepes aren't really pretty. But I was so insanely proud of myself for making a not-stupid looking flat pancake that I jumped for joy and didn't care about presesntation. Banana and cashew butter, and strawberries and cream cheese, all drizzled with honey. And I used one of my absolute fave bloggers, Emma from Food Coma Blog's recipe! You can find it here :) nom nom nom.

Spring Has Sprung!

I know that everybody can't shut up about this amazing weather we're having..but it's true! 26 degrees in March? Insane! And guess who got her first sunburn of the season? Me! Well, a little pink, but I'm slightly less blindingly pale than I was last week. Pretty awesome! Anyway, these are some pictures from the heat-and-sunshine-peak of this week, for it is now windy, cold and rainy in little old Guelph. That's ok. March is the month of "the lion and the lamb" as my Nonna says - it's allowed to be a little crazy. This week I got my spring-colour nail polish on, my inexcusably 'bad for my feet' but adorable flats, rekindled my addiction with Starbucks iced coffees, and laid out on my campus' hill soaking up the sun. Exams can't come and go fast enough.

What I Wore: Formal

Hey y'all, thought I'd share some pics of my residence's formal dance last saturday. I'm also procrastinating essays, and trying to avoid the inferno that is my bedroom. They haven't changed the heating over to A/C yet in my dorm :( Anyway, I don't have many photos (forgot my cam at home that day!) but I think what I scrounged up it pretty cute. My dress was a beautiful dress I snagged from a contest way back by ModCloth, aka my dream store. And I couldn't have felt prettier :) or taller..but that's because Justin insisted I wasn't too tall for heels. I beg to differ...

Monday Madness

Hi there. I don't think I've ever had a case of the Mondays like I did today. Phew. But it's winding down now, and I can look forward to Wednesday being TWENTY-FIVE DEGREES. That's unheard of. Unfortunately, I am more than aware that not only is that unusual for March in Canada but also probably a very bad sign that we are doing something wrong to our ecosystem. Hello global warming! Anyway, I've been crazy busy working on assignments for school but I'm so close to the end that I can almost taste it! Hope there was a better Monday out there today for you :)

What I Love Today

Today is almost Thursday. Which is almost Friday. Which is awesome. Everyone knows that. But it's also  inching closer to Spring and that means I'm inspired by almost everything I see! Here's a few:

1. Tree blossoms beginning to bloom are one of the most beautiful sights and I can't wait (photo found HERE
2. Spring coloured nail polish! Who doesn't love it? We get to play with funky colours and everyone can actually see our toes! (found HERE
3. This floral cut-out dress is adorable, Spring definitely means bringing out anything with flowers. (found HERE
4. Lastly, jean jackets means a lot to me because mine is my go-to jacket the SECOND it gets warm enough. They will never go out of style. I say that because I am using mine from the 7th grade [no I cannot button it up, puberty has hit since then] but it fits almost perfectly! (found HERE)

Sunday Pancakes

I'm alive! I crawled out of my studying cave (ha, that's an exaggeration for sure) long enough to make our favourite blueberry pancakes with my momma this morning. I don't know how long she's been making these, but they're the best. I take my blueberry pancakes smeared with cream cheese and lightly drizzled in syrup! (lightly- because I am not my brother who turns his into pancake soup) Happy Sunday! Let's try not to think about tomorrow.

What would you do if you won the lottery?

Saturday night was fantastic as we celebrated my brother's birthday with my Dad's side of the family, along with my brother's girlfriend, my boyfriend and all my siblings. Plus two cats. Plus 3 desserts. It was a full house, is all I'm saying. My stepmom brought dinner cards with various conversation-starter questions on them. Mine was "which TV family is most like your own?" I can say without a doubt, it's Modern Family, because my wonderful daddy is Phil. My little sister made bouquets of origami flowers from a new kit she bought, as you can see, and I fidgeted with my camera all night. This night reminded me of why my family is so loving, embarrassing, and fantastic :)
